The NHL saw several players hit waivers today (Sept. 30). One of them just so happens to be a former Boston Bruins forward, as Brendan Gaunce has been made available for the taking.
Gaunce, 30, signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Minnesota Wild this off-season. This was after the 2012 first-round pick spent each of the last three seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets organization.

In 24 games last season with the Blue Jackets, Gaunce had two goals, four points, and a minus-7 rating. He also appeared in 46 games with their AHL affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters, posting 19 goals and 39 points. In six playoff games for the Monsters, he had three goals and two assists.
Gaunce appeared in one game for Boston during the 2019-20 season, recording an assist and a plus-1 rating. He spent the rest of the year with the Providence Bruins, where he had 18 goals, 37 points, and a plus-18 rating in 52 contests.
Teams looking for a bit more forward depth could consider taking a flier on Gaunce. We will need to wait and see what happens on that front from here.
