With July 1 just about here, the Boston Bruins are making moves.
The Bruins have announced that they have signed pending free agents Marat Khusnutdinov and defenseman Michael Callahan to new contracts.
Khusnutdinov's new deal is a two-year, $1.85 million contract. Starting next season, the 22-year-old forward will carry a $925,000 cap hit. Callahan, on the other hand, has signed a one-year, $775,000 contract for the 2025-26 season.
Khusnutdinov was a pending restricted free agent for the Bruins this off-season. In 18 games with the Bruins after being acquired from the Minnesota Wild at the trade deadline, he had three goals, five points, and 18 hits.
Callahan, 25, was a pending Group 6 unrestricted free agent, but he will now be staying in Boston after landing this new contract. The Massachusetts native played in his first 17 NHL games this season with Boston, where he recorded one goal, eight hits, 12 blocks, and a minus-5 rating.
NHL Rumors: Latest On Bruins-Brad Marchand Potential Reunion
Former Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand is one of the NHL's top pending unrestricted free agents (UFAs) as we continue to get closer to July 1. However, the possibility of him re-signing with the Florida Panthers before then is certainly there, as both sides have expressed interest in getting a new deal done.
