The Boston Bruins are not done making moves, as they have now signed forward Georgii Merkulov to a one-year, two-way contract extension. The 24-year-old will carry a $775,000 cap hit at the NHL level for the 2025-26 season.

Merkulov was one of the Bruins' most notable pending restricted free agents (RFAs) without a contract, but now he is staying put in Boston with this news.

Merkulov played in six games this season with Boston, where he recorded one assist, two hits, and a minus-1 rating. He was also once again a key scorer in the AHL with the Providence Bruins in 2024-25, posting 15 goals and 54 points in 59 games.

After landing this contract, Merkulov will now look to prove that he is ready to be a full-time NHL player next season. There will be spots to fight for in Boston's lineup, and a strong training camp could help Merkulov's chances of making their opening night roster.
