During the 2023 NHL off-season, Boston Bruins legend Patrice Bergeron announced his retirement. It was immensely difficult for Bruins fans when Bergeron hung up the skates, as he was one of the franchise's greatest all-time players.

In 1,294 games as a Bruin over 19 years, Bergeron had 427 goals, 613 assists, and 1,040 points. He was also a big reason for the Bruins' 2011 Stanley Cup championship, and he won the Selke Trophy six times, an NHL record.

Bergeron also left the NHL at an elite level, as he posted 27 goals, 58 points, and a plus-35 rating in 78 games. He also won the Selke Trophy in his final season. Due to this, many hoped that the longtime Bruin would change his mind about his retirement last season. Yet, that, of course, did not come to fruition.

However, Bergeron did travel with the Bruins for the pre-season matchup against the Los Angeles Kings in Quebec City yesterday (Oct. 4). It is understandable, as Bergeron is a Quebec native.

While speaking to reporters there, Bergeron was asked if he would want to be involved in some capacity if Quebec City was ever given an NHL team again. Here's what No. 37 said on the matter:

"It's something I would definitely consider. I was a big fan growing up, and it would definitely be special. But with that being said, I've been a part of an organization for 20 years in Boston, which has a big place in my heart as well. I don't know what the real answer is to that, but it's definitely something I would consider."

Hearing that Bergeron would consider returning being a part of a potential Quebec City franchise is not particularly surprising. He grew up in the area and noted that he was a fan of the Nordiques as a kid. Thus, if the NHL ever returns to Quebec, perhaps we could see Bergeron get his front-office career started.
