With Jeremy Swayman still unsigned, the Boston Bruins have added a new goalie to their roster. The Bruins have claimed Jiri Patera off waivers from the Vancouver Canucks.
Patera, 25, signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Canucks during this off-season. However, he will now be with the Bruins organization instead with this waiver claim.
Jiri PateraPatera was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights with the 161st overall pick of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-3 netminder has eight games of NHL experience on his resume, posting a 3-3-1 record, a 3.57 goals-against average (GAA), and a .902 save percentage (SV%).
With this waiver claim, the Bruins have created more competition for their backup role.
