On Feb. 17, the Boston Globe's Jim McBride reported that Boston Bruins star defenseman Charlie McAvoy was admitted to Mass General Hospital due to an upper-body injury. Naturally, this created plenty of concern regarding No. 73's health. Now, there's an update on the star blueliner.
According to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, McAvoy was hospitalized due to an infection from "a minor injury." Seravalli also noted that the Bruins star is "fine" and that this is not considered a "long-term concern."
At the time of Seravalli's report, McAvoy was still considered a possibility to play in the 4 Nations Face-Off championship, but the Bruins announced afterward that the star has been ruled out.

TSN's Pierre LeBrun later confirmed Seravalli's report but also noted that McAvoy is "the biggest concern" out of all the injured Team USA players.
While an infection must be taken seriously, there is no question that this update is more promising than it could have been. As it appears right now, McAvoy should not need to miss serious time, which is undoubtedly good news for a Bruins team that is looking to secure a playoff spot.
