William Nylander's Potential Reason for Playoff Absence Revealed

We now have learned what is keeping William Nylander sidelined.

Jake DeBrusk and Charlie Coyle were The Hockey News picks for the mid-season Selke Trophy.

The Boston Bruins are in a good spot, as they currently have a 2-1 series lead over the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round. These two clubs are playing very competitive hockey, and the Bruins are hoping to secure another victory in Game 4 to give them more of a cushion.

The Maple Leafs have been without superstar forward William Nylander for all three playoff games against the Bruins thus far. They have missed him immensely, as he is one of their most important players. However, the reason for his absences was a mystery. Now, we have been given some clarity about the ongoing situation.

According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, he heard from multiple sources that Nylander has been suffering from a severe migraine that has forced him to get tested for a concussion. However, he also noted that the reason for Nylander's migraine has not been determined.

This paints a bigger picture as to why Nylander has not played in each of the last three games. Friedman also noted that there is hope that he can play in Game 4.

Nylander is no stranger to migraine issues, as he switched to a tinted visor during the 2022-23 season due to them.

If Nylander is good to go for the Maple Leafs this Saturday, it will certainly make things tougher for the Bruins, as he is an elite talent. However, given the uncertainty surrounding his migraine troubles, it is too early to predict if he will undoubtedly be ready to return to action.
