Bruins' Jim Montgomery Blasts NHL's Playoff Scheduling
Jim Montgomery is not a fan of the NHL playoff schedule for the Bruins.
The Boston Bruins are preparing for a crucial Game 3 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. They are looking to avoid going down 2-1 in the series, especially since Game 4 will also be played in Toronto.
With the Bruins finishing the regular season with more points than the Maple Leafs, they were home for the first two games of the first round. However, they weren't in Boston for very long, as the two games were played from Saturday to Monday (April 20-22).
The Maple Leafs, on the other hand, have the privilege of being the home club for longer than Boston. Game 3 will occur on Wednesday night (April 24), while Game 4 will not be played until this upcoming Saturday (April 27).
While speaking to reporters, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery expressed apparent dissatisfaction about the NHL's playoff scheduling. Here's what the Bruins' bench boss had to say on the matter: "We’re spending more time in Toronto than Toronto is spending in Boston. We’re the home team."
Montgomery's frustration is understandable, as the Maple Leafs will get the comfort of being home longer than Boston, even though they had the worse record out of the two.
Alas, even if they are in Toronto longer, the Bruins must secure at least one win on the road if they hope to have a real shot of moving on to the second round. Let's see if they can do just that in Game 3.
