As we get closer to the big day, the Bruins have some needs to address by the NHL Trade Deadline.
The 2024 NHL All-Star Game is now complete. Due to this, it's time to focus on the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. The Boston Bruins are tied with the Vancouver Canucks for first place in the NHL, so they naturally are going to be buyers.
The NHL trade market's previous top centers, Elias Lindholm and Sean Monahan, have found their new homes. Because of this, adding a top-six center may be out of the question for the Bruins. While that is disappointing, the Bruins have other needs that they should be looking to address at the deadline.
In a recent article for NBC Sports Boston, Nick Goss argued that the Bruins' top goals should be to add a "physical, veteran defenseman" and a middle-six forward. He also wrote that Bruins GM Don Sweeney should not trade any of their first-rounders.
Adding a physical defenseman with experience certainly would be a wise move for the Bruins. They have plenty of left-shot defensemen, so I'd argue that their focus should be to add to their right side. Per The Fourth Period, they have been linked to Anaheim Ducks defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin. Other possible options include Chris Tanev and Erik Johnson.
The NHL trade market also has several middle-six forwards whom the Bruins could target. Some examples include Adam Henrique, Anthony Duclair, Victor Olofsson, Dominik Kubalik, and Tyler Johnson.
