The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline is rapidly approaching. The Edmonton Oilers are expected to be quite active in trade talks leading up to it, as they are clear buyers. However, that does not guarantee that every player on their NHL roster will be staying put.
NHL insider Frank Seravalli recently released his latest Trade Target Board for Daily Faceoff, and an Oilers defenseman made the cut at the No. 11 spot – Brett Kulak.

Seravalli wrote this about why the Oilers could move Kulak: "It’s just that if the Oilers are going to manufacture salary cap space to make a big trade deadline acquisition, Kulak might have to be the casualty."
Kulak, 30, carries a $2.75 million cap hit, so it makes sense that Seravalli views him as a possible trade candidate. The veteran defenseman has primarily played on the team's bottom pairing, but they have other internal options like Philip Broberg, who could replace him if he is moved.
Kulak has appeared in 44 games this season for the Oilers, where he has two goals, three assists, and a minus-1 rating. While moving on from him would create a hole in their lineup, it may be worth some consideration if he's one of the pieces added to acquire a high-impact player.
