This former Sabre had a big game for the Sharks.

At the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline, the Buffalo Sabres quietly traded goaltender Devin Cooley to the San Jose Sharks for a 2025 seventh-round pick. It was a notable move for Cooley, as the 26-year-old is from Los Gatos, which neighbors San Jose.
Since then, Cooley has spent time on the Sharks' NHL roster. In his first two NHL starts, Cooley struggled. He allowed four goals on 30 shots against the Chicago Blackhawks and then five goals on 31 shots against Chicago in his second matchup against the club. However, he responded to his two shaky starts by saving 34 out of 36 shots against the St. Louis Blues and picked up his first NHL win in the process.

On Thursday (April 11), Cooley looked to build off his momentum from his strong start against the Blues. He certainly did so, as he put together a remarkable performance against the Seattle Kraken. The former Sabres prospect made 49 saves on 50 shots and picked up the win.
With a performance like this, Cooley is showing the league that he has the potential to become a true NHL netminder. Let's see how he performs with the Sharks down the stretch, but it's hard not to give him some major praise for such a strong start.
