Before the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline passed, the Buffalo Sabres acquired Bowen Byram from the Colorado Avalanche for Casey Mittelstadt. So far, the move has been working out fabulously for the Sabres, as Byram has been highly impactful. In four games since joining the Sabres, he has three goals and two assists.

While Mittelstadt has not been as dominant as Byram since joining the Avalanche, his play has been picking up lately. Over his last two games, he has a goal, an assist, and a plus-2 rating. Overall, he has been working well as their new second-line center and is giving them the upgrade they desperately needed.

Mittelstadt, 25, was having a breakout season for the Sabres before the move, posting 14 goals and 47 points in 62 games. So far, with the Avalanche, he is not showing any signs of slowing down.

It will be interesting to see how long Mittelstadt can maintain his hot streak from here. There's no question that he is in a position to succeed with Colorado, as he has plenty of stars to work with, like Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, Cale Makar, and Valeri Nichushkin.
