The Sabres have an intriguing offseason trade target from the Capitals.
The Buffalo Sabres are in a position to make some major moves this offseason. They will enter the offseason with a plethora of cap space to go along with a strong prospect pool.
With the Sabres looking to be a playoff team immediately, there is a general understanding that their goal will be to add to their roster this offseason. Because of this, one player they should target this offseason is Washington Capitals forward Nic Dowd.

Dowd, 33, was the subject of trade rumors leading up to the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. While a move did not come to fruition, the Capitals are expected to listen to offers for the Alabama native again this summer. With the Sabres needing an effective veteran forward who provides grit, he would be a solid addition to their club.
Dowd is well-known for his excellent defensive play and penalty-killing ability. He also chips in offensively while playing in a bottom-six role. Overall, he is simply an all-around solid player and would provide Buffalo with a boost next season.

Dowd would be very easy to afford, too, as he has a $1.3 million cap hit until the end of next season.
In 47 games this season with the Capitals, Dowd has eight goals, 16 points, 62 hits, and a plus-6 rating.
