This former Buffalo Sabres forward has officially announced his retirement.
On Tuesday night (Sept. 17), former Buffalo Sabres forward Tyler Ennis announced his retirement from professional hockey in a post through his personal Instagram.
Ennis, 34, was selected by the Sabres with the 26th overall pick of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. From there, he spent the first eight seasons of his NHL career as a Sabre, recording 97 goals, 139 assists, and 236 points. Overall, Ennis had his most NHL success as a Sabre and was a key part of their roster for multiple years.
Ennis played 13 seasons in the NHL. In 700 career games split between the Sabres, Minnesota Wild, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, and Senators, Ennis had 144 goals, 202 assists, and 346 points. He also appeared in 24 playoff games, posting four goals, 12 points, and a plus-5 rating.
Ennis' last appearance in the NHL came during the 2021-22 season with the Ottawa Senators. He spent the 2022-23 season with Bern SC, recording 13 goals and 33 points in 37 games. He then played in seven games last season with the Mannheim Eagles, where he had five assists.
