The Buffalo Sabres made a huge move earlier this offseason when they brought back Lindy Ruff as their head coach. The 64-year-old spent 15 years as the Sabres' bench boss from 1997-98 to 2012-13.

While the offseason is young, Ruff is already getting his second stint as the Sabres' head coach started. On Thursday, the Sabres posted a video of Ruff calling season ticket members.

Getting an unexpected call from a big-time head coach naturally surprised the fans, and one humorously responded by saying, "Lindy?" Ruff got a real kick of it and quickly clarified that his call was not a prank.

From there, Ruff shared his excitement for the 2024-25 season and for taking the Sabres to that much-needed next level. He also expressed gratitude to the fans for their devotion to the club by being season ticket members.

This was an excellent way for Ruff to reintroduce himself to the Sabres and their biggest fans. It is also wonderful to see that the longtime bench boss is optimistic about the Sabres' future. Given his success in the NHL, perhaps he will be the coach that finally ends the Sabres' 13-year postseason drought.

In 1,165 games as the Sabres' head coach during his first stint, Ruff had a 571-432-78 record.
