The Sabres could be in the mix for this Rangers center this summer.

New York Rangers center Alex Wennberg picked up the goal of his career on Sunday night. With 14:25 left in overtime, the Stockholm native tipped a Ryan Lindgren shot past Florida Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. With it, the Rangers won Game 3 and now have a 2-1 series lead over the Panthers.
Wennberg, 29, was brought in by the Rangers at the trade deadline to provide them with more depth and production in their bottom six. After this game-winner, it is fair to assume that the Rangers are happy they acquired him.

While Wennberg has made an impact with the Rangers, there is a real chance he will hit the market on July 1. If he does, the Buffalo Sabres stand out as a prime landing spot for the 10-year veteran.
One of the Sabres' top objectives this offseason is to add a third-line center. Wennberg can be just that when playing at his best, as he provides solid secondary production.
Wennberg would give the Sabres a nice upgrade to their third line. His playmaking ability would also make him an option for the Sabres' second power-play unit if signed.
In 79 games this season split between the Seattle Kraken and Rangers, Wennberg had 10 goals and 30 points.
