The Sabres have some players who could interest the Kings.
The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline is rapidly approaching, and soon, the Buffalo Sabres will have some decisions to make. With the club's playoff chances being quite low, there is a general expectation that they will sell off at least some of their pending UFAs to playoff clubs.
The Los Angeles Kings, on the other hand, are preparing to be buyers, as they currently hold the top wild card spot in the Western Conference. Given Viktor Arvidsson's recent LTIR placement, they are likely to browse the trade market for wingers. The Sabres offer some pretty solid options for them, and these two could do business with each other because of it.
If the Kings want to add some secondary scoring but not give up too many assets, they could take a gamble on Victor Olofsson. While the 28-year-old winger has struggled this season (four goals and 12 points in 35 games), a reason for that has been his drop in playing time. He also had 28 goals and 40 points just last season, so he could bounce back if given a fresh start.
If the Sabres were to retain half of Olofsson's salary, he could be a decent addition to a Kings team that needs more scoring right now.
Kyle Okposo could also be a nice pickup for the Kings. While he is not necessarily a sniper like Arvidsson and Olofsson, he would still help improve the Kings' bottom six for the final stretch of the season. With that, he would give them another grizzled veteran and leader for their upcoming playoff run.
Okposo, 35, has appeared in 55 games this season with the Sabres, posting 11 goals, 20 points, and a plus-2 rating.
