The Sabres' prospect pool is getting some love.

OTP - Do The Sabres Need A Different Type Of Head Coach?

The Buffalo Sabres were officially eliminated from playoff contention earlier this week, extending their postseason drought to a disastrous 13 years. While it is natural to feel frustrated over this development, fans should remember that the future is still looking very bright for this club.

The primary reason to be optimistic about the Sabres is their prospect pool. They have an array of quality players who should become impactful NHLers in the near future, and they have received some big-time praise because of this.

ESPN released their latest NHL prospect pool rankings, and the Sabres, without much surprise, landed the top spot. Given how many outstanding prospects they have, this spot is entirely understandable. In fact, The Athletic also gave the Sabres the No. 1 spot in their rankings earlier this season.

The Sabres have young players, like Owen Power, Zach Benson, and JJ Peterka, who have already emerged as key NHL pieces. Devon Levi struggled a bit this season in the NHL, but he should be their long-term starter in the near future.

As for their prospects who are still developing, they have some prominent names like Jiri Kulich, Noah Ostlund, Isak Rosen, Maxim Strbak, Matt Savoie, Gavin McCarthy, and Anton Wahlberg. Simply put, the Sabres could become a deep team if these youngsters each hit their full potential.

As a result, this is one thing that fans should feel positive about when it comes to the Sabres.
