Rasmus Dahlin is building on his strong 2023-24 season.

The Buffalo Sabres suffered a backbreaking 3-2 loss to the Dallas Stars last night (April 9). With it, the Sabres have officially been knocked out of playoff contention and have extended their NHL-leading postseason drought to 13 years. That's just brutal.
While there is clearly plenty to be frustrated about in Buffalo, star defenseman Rasmus Dahlin shouldn't receive too much blame. The 23-year-old has had a strong season, and he hit a massive milestone against the Stars.

Dahlin potted his 20th goal of the season against Dallas on Tuesday. With it, he is the first Sabres defenseman since Phil Housley to have at least 20 goals in a season. Housley scored at least 20 goals five times with the Sabres, with the 1989-90 campaign being the last time. No other Sabres defender besides Housley and now Dahlin have hit the 20-goal mark in a season.
This is a major accomplishment for Dahlin, and it only displays how excellent he has been offensively this season. While missing the playoffs yet again is infuriating, Dahlin hitting the 20-goal mark should not be glossed over. Let's see how he finishes off the season from here.
