The Buffalo Sabres have not had the best start this season. At this juncture, they sport a 1-3-0 record and are at the bottom of the Atlantic Division. Thankfully, it is incredibly early in the season, so they have plenty of time to turn things around.

However, if the Sabres want to help their chances of bouncing back and taking that next step, they have a clear need to address: adding another top-six forward.

One of the Sabres' top off-season objectives was to add to their top six. Ultimately, they did not land a proper top-six winger but revamped their bottom six by adding Jason Zucker, Ryan McLeod, Sam Lafferty, Beck Malenstyn, and Nicolas Aube-Kubel. While their forward depth has the potential to be better in 2024-25, it is apparent that they need one more impactful top-six winger.

Scoring has been an issue for the Sabres early on. While they scored five goals against the Florida Panthers in their last game, they scored only one goal in each of their first three games. Thus, it is not a secret that Buffalo could use another scoring winger in their top six right now.

The Sabres' solid prospect pool and plenty of cap space put them in a position to add. But will they? Time will tell.
