Heading into this season, the expectation was that Buffalo Sabres rookie Devon Levi would thrive as the club's starting netminder. However, the youngster has run into trouble this season while in the NHL, posting a .891 SV% and a 3.30 GAA in 20 appearances.

Due to his struggles, Levi has spent a decent portion of this season with the Rochester Americans of the AHL, and that's where he is now. It is understandable that the Sabres are having him spend time in the AHL due to his struggles, but he is certainly making a case for himself to get a recall with his recent play.

Levi just had a remarkable performance with the Amerks, saving 52 out of 53 shots against the Toronto Marlies in a 2-1 overtime win. Without the 22-year-old, Rochester could have been blown out, but he simply stood on his head. After a performance like this, he needs to be getting the attention of the Sabres.

With that, Levi has been excellent all season while with the Amerks. In 10 games, he has a 6-2-2 record, a .930 SV%, and a 2.38 GAA.

Nevertheless, Levi is showing great promise in the AHL, and he is absolutely playing well enough to get called up. However, the Sabres also could elect to keep him in the AHL to continue to develop his game and grow his confidence. Either way, it is hard not to love what we are seeing from him right now.
