Connor McDavid left fans amused with a wacky winning goal celebration.

Connor McDavid left fans amused with a wacky winning goal celebration.

Edmonton Oilers' star Connor McDavid did not hold back celebrating when Oilers blueliner Evan Bouchard scored the winning goal during sudden death overtime against the Dallas Stars yesterday.

He held both hands and his stick in the air while also standing on one leg.

One fan who posted the video said Bouchard should be up for the Norris Trophy for best defenseman.

While this sparked debate, it seems McDavid's goal celebration was comic relief.

"McDavid celebration hilarious", a fan said on X.

Bouchard also scored the first Oilers goal of the game to tie it to 1-1, scoring a wrister and his 13th goal of the season. His 14th was the game winner.

All six regulation goals were scored in the second period alone. This is the second time this has happened this season, the last time being the Pittsburgh Penguins scoring six goals in the second period against the New York Islanders on Dec. 27, 2023. They won 7-0.

He is now tied with the Stars' Thomas Harley and Buffalo Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin for second-most goals this season for an NHL defenseman at 14. The Calgary Flames' Mackenzie Weegar is ranked first at 15, and third goes to the Colorado Avalanche's Cale Makar, an NHL All-Star, at 13.

The Oilers-Stars tie went all the way through the third period before Bouchard scored the winning goal in the first 30 seconds of overtime at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
