
As the Flames offseason rolls along, the 2026 IIHF World Championships are giving a few Flames players some added experience on the world stage. Here’s how they are faring so far.
Devin Cooley - Team USA - Cooley has appeared in two of the Americans' three games so far. He secured the win against Great Britain on May 17, turning aside 19 of 20 shots, and later split a game with Joseph Woll, turning aside 17 of 18 shots in 38:03 of action. He’s sporting a .947 save percentage in those two outings.
Matt Coronato - Team USA - Coronato scored his first goal of the tournament in his third game, a 6-2 loss against Finland on Monday, May 18. He has seven shots through three games.
Olli Maataa - Team Finland - Finland is 3-0-0-0 to start the tournament, and Maataa has been a key contributor on the blueline throughout. He recorded a multipoint performance with two assists against Team USA in Finland’s 6-2 win on Monday.
Martin Pospisil - Team Slovakia - Pospisil has three points in two games to start the tournament. He added an assist in Slovakia’s 2-1 win over Norway to begin the tournament and followed up with two assists in the 4-1 win over Italy. Slovakia is 2-0-0-0 to start the tournament.
Ryan Huska - Team Canada - The Flames head coach is an assistant coach for Canada, who are unbeaten to start the tournament with a 3-0-0-0 record, outscoring their opponents 16-4 in the first three games.
