The Carolina Hurricanes are set to face off against the Florida Panthers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final on May 26. This is a massive contest for the Hurricanes, as a loss would eliminate them from the playoffs. Thus, this is a must-win game for Carolina.
Unfortunately, it seems likely that the Hurricanes will be without two of their important defensemen yet again for this matchup. While speaking with reporters, including NHL.com's Dan Rosen, Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour said blueliners Jalen Chatfield and Sean Walker are doubtful to play Game 4.
"I don't know because I haven't even been down to the medical part yet, but if they couldn't play (Saturday), it's probably doubtful they play (Game 4)," Brind'Amour said.
With this being a must-win game for the Hurricanes, it would certainly be a significant blow if both Chatfield and Walker are officially out for Game 4. They are both significant parts of the Hurricanes' defense, and they certainly have missed them since they have been out.
Chatfield has not played for the Hurricanes since their Game 4 matchup against the Washington Capitals last round. In nine games this post-season, the 6-foot1 defenseman has one goal and a plus-6 rating.
Walker, on the other hand, missed Game 3 against the Panthers due to an injury. The 30-year-old has one goal, three points, and a plus-1 rating in 12 games this post-season.
