The Carolina Hurricanes have added some more defensive depth, signing blueliner Gavin Bayreuther to a one-year, two-way deal.

Bayreuther, 31, has 122 games of NHL experience under his belt, having played parts of four seasons for both the Dallas Stars and Columbus Blue Jackets and has five goals and 28 points in that span.

The New Hampshire native spent last season in the Swiss National League, where he had five goals and 23 points in 23 games.

Bayreuther will add a little more veteran presence to a young Chicago Wolves blueline.
