When - 9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 21
Where - Ball Arena; Denver, CO
How to Watch - Bally Sports South
The Carolina Hurricanes (3-2-0) will take on one of the NHL's last remaining undefeated teams as they travel to Denver to take on the Colorado Avalanche (4-0-0).
Colorado is currently rocking a +11 goal differential and have seen a balanced attack with success in every facet of the game so far, making them a very tough opponent.
Scoring has been consistent for the Canes, but the problem has been the defense. If they hope to win tonight, Carolina will need to play a sound defensive game with buy in from every player.
Per head coach Rod Brind'Amour neither Sebastian Aho nor Frederik Andersen are expected to play tonight.
"[Aho's] getting better," Brind'Amour said. "I's real doubtful if he's going to play tonight. Most definitely doubtful, but I'm still holding out hope that he comes in and says he's good."
While Aho sounds like he could return any day now, Andersen sounds a bit further off.
"He still doesn't feel great," Brind'Amour said. "We're living in a different era now where if they feel iffy, you don't play guys. Right now I don't think he goes."
As such, Antti Raanta (1-1-0; 0.818 SV%, 4.41 GAA) is expected to get the start with Pyotr Kochetkov backing him up.
The Hurricanes have also brought in newly acquired forward Cal Burke on an emergency recall and it sounds like he will be Carolina's 12th forward tonight.
"It's an interesting situation for him," Brind'Amour said. "He knows the other team better than we do. But it's a good opportunity for him. That's the way you have to look at it. So we'll give him a chance and we'll see."
"They've got a great culture of work ethic and speed which suits my game and I'm excited to play for them," Burke said on Carolina. "I'm just trying to show that I can be reliable in the NHL"
