It's been a pretty good 24 hours for Taylor Hall.
The Carolina Hurricanes forward scored the team's first goal Tuesday night to spark the rally for their 5-4 double overtime victory, advanced to the second round of the NHL Playoffs for just the second time in his career and now he's got a brand new contract.
Hall and Carolina have agreed to a three-year, $9.5 million ($3.167 AAV) contract extension to keep the 33-year-old winger in Raleigh.
"Taylor has proven to be an outstanding fit for our team, and we are thrilled that he is excited to make Raleigh his home for another three seasons,” said Carolina general manager Eric Tulsky in a press release. “He’s been a solid veteran presence in the locker room and a difference maker on the ice.”
The Hurricanes acquired Hall this season as part of the blockbuster trade that saw the team send out Jack Drury and Martin Necas in exchange for Mikko Rantanen and Hall.
While the whole Rantanen thing didn't really work out, Hall on the other hand has been a tremendous fit.
The 2010 first overall pick finished the regular season with nine goals and 18 points in 31 games with the Hurricanes and had solid contributions in the first round series with a goal and three points in five games.
He's been an elite play driver for the Canes and gives the team a substantial boost to their middle six with his size and skill.
Hall has been on a lot of teams over his 15-year career and he joked with the media when he first got to Carolina that he was tired of moving and would love for the Hurricanes to be his last team.
Well Taylor, looks like you got your wish.
