The Carolina Hurricanes will play the New York Islanders tonight at PNC Arena. It will be the second meeting between the two teams, with Carolina having taken the first contest 4-3 thanks to a Sebastian Aho overtime goal.
The Canes have won two in a row and four of their last five, most recently defeating the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 Tuesday night.
Pyotr Kochetkov is expected to get the net for the third straight game. Since returning to the Hurricanes in mid November, Kochetkov has a 3-1-0 record with a 0.929 save percentage.
Andrei Svechnikov is also tentative to return after missing Tuesday's contest due to illness.
The Isles enter tonight's contest having most recently blown yet another third period lead, losing 5-4 in regulation to the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday.
While the team is finding a bit more scoring touch, they no longer seem to be the defensive stalwarts they once were. The Islanders have been outscored 55-65 overall and their third period goal differential is 13-28.
