Who doesn't love a goalie goal?
Well then... who wouldn't love two?
Former Carolina Hurricanes netminder Alex Nedeljkovic set an AHL record as he recorded his second career goal Friday night with the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, the AHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Nedeljkovic, who's 2-1-0 with a 0.944 save percentage and 2.0 goals against average this year with the Penguins, was down in the AHL on a conditioning stint with Wilkes-Barre after he sustained a lower-body injury earlier in the NHL season.
'Ned,' — who was a finalist for the Calder Trophy in 2020-21 after a 15-5-3 season with the Hurricanes that saw him put up a 0.932 save percentage, 1.9 goals against average and three shutouts — scored his first ever goal with the Charlotte Checkers, who were the Canes' affiliate at the time, in 2018.
That wasn't even the first professional goal of the 2014 second-round pick's career either, as he even scored one down in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades back in 2016.
After scoring that second goal with Wilkes-Barre on Nov. 17, Nedeljkovic returned to the Penguins and promptly put up a 39-save shutout against the defending Stanley Cup Champion Vegas Golden Knights on Nov. 19.
Talk about a memorable weekend.
