Former Carolina Hurricanes forward Warren Foegele signed a three-year, $10.5 million contract with the Los Angeles Kings this past off-season. This was after the 29-year-old winger posted 20 goals and 41 points in 82 games with the Edmonton Oilers in 2023-24.
The move to LA has done wonders for Foegele. In 82 regular-season games this year, he set new career highs with 24 goals, 22 assists, and 46 points.
Fast-forward to today, and Foegele is now facing off against the Oilers in the first round of the playoffs. The former Hurricane is also making things very difficult for Edmonton, as he put together a strong performance in the Kings' Game 2 win.
Foegele contributed offensively in the Kings' 6-2 win over the Oilers, as he recorded an assist on each of Los Angeles' first two goals of the game. His first assist was particularly impressive, though, as he drove the puck to the net before setting up Kings defenseman Brandt Clarke in front with a perfect feed.
When playing at his best, Foegele is capable of providing solid secondary offensive production, and he did just that for the Kings in Game 2. With this, the Kings now have a 2-0 series lead over the reigning Western Conference champions.
Foegele was selected by the Hurricanes with the 67th overall pick of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. In 200 games over four seasons with the Metropolitan Division club, he had 35 goals, 33 assists, 68 points, and 255 hits. His time with the Canes ended when he was dealt to the Oilers during the 2021 NHL off-season in exchange for defenseman Ethan Bear.
