The Carolina Hurricanes have activated goaltender Antti Raanta from IR, moving him back to the team's active roster.

Raanta had been on IR since suffering a lower-body injury in the second period against the Colorado Avalanche on Feb. 8.

The Finnish goalie entered the game in the second period in relief for Pyotr Kochetkov, but after finishing the period, he did not return for the third period and it was later announced that he was out with an injury.

Raanta had originally been given a two-week timeline, but the rehab ballooned into a four week stint out of the lineup.

In that span, Pyotr Kochetkov and Spencer Martin teamed up for a strong February putting up a 8-2-1 record and a combined 0.933 save percentage and 1.83 goals against average.

However, Carolina is about to have a bit of a goalie problem as Frederik Andersen is also nearing a return to the lineup and while a team can hold four goaltenders if it wants to, it can only have 23 roster players and the Hurricanes are at that limit.

It will be interesting to see what moves the Canes decide to make, because while they would like to keep all of them for stronger goaltender depth, they can't necessarily hold onto all of them easily.
