The Carolina Hurricanes number one netminder could be back sooner rather than later.
The Canes held a limited practice on Thursday and Frederik Andersen was on the ice, taking shots along with the team's extras.
The 35-year-old netminder was initially injured in Game 4 against the New Jersey Devils after a collision with Timo Meier, and was not available for Game 5.
He was labeled as day-to-day at the time and now seems like he could very well be ready to go for Round 2 against the Washington Capitals.
The Hurricanes will hold a full practice Friday morning.
"I expect him to practice tomorrow and then we'll see," said Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour Thursday.
