The Hurricanes' decision to keep Taylor Hall around has undoubtedly been paying off.
The Carolina Hurricanes' post-season dominance continued on Saturday, as they defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime by a 3-2 final score. With this, the Hurricnaes have advanced to the Eastern Conference Final and now have an 8-0 record this post-season.
There have been many reasons behind the Hurricanes' excellent start to the playoffs. Taylor Hall has undoubtedly been a major one, as the 34-year-old forward has been fantastic for the Hurricanes so far this post-season.
In eight playoff games so far this spring, Hall has scored three goals and leads the Hurricanes with nine assists and 12 points. He also had three assists in the Hurricanes' Game 4 win over Philadelphia.
With how well Hall has been playing for the Hurricanes this post-season, the team's decision to sign him to a three-year, $9.5 million contract extension last year is only continuing to look better. The 2010 first-overall pick had a strong regular-season for the Canes in the first year of his extension, posting 18 goals and 48 points in 80 games. Now, he is only playing better with the Hurricanes this post-season.
It will now be interesting to see how Hall builds on his strong post-season from here. The veteran forward has been red-hot at the perfect time.
