This would be an interesting prospect for the Hurricanes to add to their system.
The Athletic's Corey Pronman and Scott Wheeler recently released their latest 2026 NHL mock draft. In it, they predicted the first and second rounds of the upcoming NHL Entry Draft.
For the Hurricanes, Pronman predicted that the Hurricanes will select right-shot defenseman Tommy Bleyl. This was the Hurricanes' only pick in this mock draft, as they do not have their second-rounder this year.
If Bleyl is available for the taking when the Hurricanes are on the clock, it would make a lot of sense for them to select him. He would provide them with a fascinating offensive defenseman to work with in their prospect pool if selected.
Bleyl just had an excellent season in the QMJHL with the Moncton Wildcats. In 63 games with the Wildcats this regular-season, the 6-foot defenseman recorded 13 goals, 68 assists, 81 points, and a plus-58 rating. He followed that up by recording six goals and 28 points in 21 playoff games this spring.
With numbers like these, there is no question that Bleyl has a lot of offensive potential. The Glenville, New York native has plenty of skill, and he would have the potential to be a strong addition to the Hurricanes' prospect pool if selected.
