This comes after Slavin suffered a lower-body injury during the Hurricanes’ 4-3 win over the Flyers on Saturday night.
Rod Brind'Amour also confirmed that Slavin will be out for a while, as he hasn’t played since sustaining this injury.
With Slavin placed on injured reserve, the Hurricanes called up defenseman Joel Nystrom from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.
