Per Carolina Hurricanes team reporter Walt Ruff, forward Kieffer Bellows and Jayden Halbgewachs have been signed to professional tryouts (PTO).
Bellows was a first-round pick, selected 19th overall by the New York Islanders in 2016, and most recently played with the Philadelphia Flyers after being claimed off waivers last season.
The 25-year-old power forward hasn't found a footing in the league, having just 14 goals and 28 points in 95 games, spread across four seasons.
He was highly touted for his shooting in his draft year, having scored 50 goals for the U.S. National U18 Team in his draft year, but that shot has not translated in professional leagues.
Halbgewachs, 26, went undrafted, but after leading the WHL in scoring in 2017-18 with 129 points, he signed as a free agent with the San Jose Sharks.
The 5-foot-9 forward appeared in only 3 NHL games, but played 203 AHL games, registering 55 goals and 122 points.
He most recently played in the SHL for the Växjö Lakers HC.
The two forwards join Brendan Perlini, Nick Shore, Cory Conacher and Nathan Beaulieu as players on PTOs with the Hurricanes.
