The Carolina Hurricanes announced today that goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov was recalled from the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL.
Kochetkov, who was loaned to the Crunch to start the season, made one start this season and won, stopping 31 of 34 shots.
Last season, Kochetkov appeared in 24 NHL games and posted a 12-7-5 record with a 0.909 save percentage, 2.44 goals against average and four shutouts.
The callup comes in the wake of Frederik Andersen exiting Tuesday night's game against the San Jose Sharks after taking a puck off the helmet.
Andersen would not return to the game, being ruled out for precautionary reasons.
However, the Danish netminder did practice with the team Wednesday afternoon.
This could be a precautionary callup with three road games still on the schedule or Andersen might not be 100% or maybe the team isn't confident in Antti Raanta's play currently.
Whatever the reason, we may see Kochetkov get into some games here pretty soon.
