The Hurricanes netminder matched Frederik Andersen’s historic start, delivering clutch saves to keep Carolina’s momentum surging through an elite undefeated run.

Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov has made his mark in the franchise record book with yet another win Tuesday night against the Boston Bruins.

With his eighth straight win, Kochetkov has tied Frederik Andersen's mark set in 2021-22 for the most consecutive wins to begin a season.

Kochetkov currently leads the entire NHL in wins and his 0.918 save percentage ranks eighth amongst netminders to appear in at least five games this year.

"He's been really good," said alternate captain Sebastian Aho. "Just solid. That's what you want to ask from a goalie, right? Give you a chance to win the game and he's definitely done that every time he's dressed. He's given us a chance and he’s just playing at a high level right now."

While Kochetkov hasn't had the largest workload, having faced only 159 shots so far this season, he's been there to make the timely saves the team has needed in close/pivotal in-game moments.

"Goaltending is all about the timely saves," said Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour. "It just keeps you in the game if you're not quite there and obviously if you are going good, it keeps you from losing momentum and everything like that."

The franchise record for most consecutive wins at any point in a season is nine games, set by Cam Ward in 2009 and matched by Brandon Bussi last year.

But for Kochetkov, the streak hasn't meant much to him. He's just trying to take things one day, one game at a time, focusing solely on his performance in the crease.

"I no think much," Kochetkov said. "We have 84 games this season. It's just up and down and the season is long. I no think much. Just more worried about quality of my game."
