The Carolina Hurricanes have announced that they have signed goaltender Frederik Andersen to a one-year, $2.75 million contract extension. The Canes also shared that Andersen can earn bonuses of $250,000 for 35 games played, $250,000 for 40 games played, and $250,000 if the Hurricanes make the 2026 Eastern Conference Final and Andersen makes appearances in at least half of their post-season games.
Andersen, 35, is in the final season of his two-year, $6.8 million contract and was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. However, with this extension, he will be staying put with the Hurricanes.
Andersen appeared in 22 regular-season games this season with the Hurricanes, where he had a 13-8-1 record, a .899 save percentage, a 2.50 goals-against average, and one shutout. He has been excellent this post-season for the Canes, posting a 3-1 record, a 1.59 goals-against average, a .936 save percentage, and one shutout in four games thus far.
In 124 games over four seasons with the Hurricanes, Andersen has an 82-35-5 record, a .915 save percentage, and a 2.27 goals-against average. He also won the William M. Jennings Trophy with the Hurricanes during the 2021-22 season.
