The Carolina Hurricanes made a major move on April 30, signing forward Taylor Hall to a three-year, $9.5 million contract extension. This news was announced shortly after the Hurricanes knocked out the New Jersey Devils in the first round of the post-season.

It was known that both the Hurricanes and Hall were interested in getting a contract extension done, and it has now come to fruition. When looking at this deal, it is hard not to love it for the Canes.

Starting next season, Hall will have a very reasonable $3.167 million cap hit. When noting that he has become a valuable part of their top six and has provided them with strong secondary offensive production, the price they paid to keep him around is certainly good.

Hall has also been a great fit on the Hurricanes' roster and only seems to get better as he continues to adjust to the group. Following being acquired by the Hurricanes, he had nine goals and 18 points in 31 regular-season games. He has also had a strong start to the playoffs, recording one goal and two assists in five post-season games.

Hall also offers value because of his immense amount of NHL experience and leadership skills. Thus, the Hurricanes are going to benefit from extending him in this aspect as well.

With this extension being finalized, Hall will now continue to be a nice part of the Hurricanes' roster and will be at an affordable price. Overall, this looks like it could end up being an excellent move for the Hurricanes, and it will be intriguing to see how Hall performs after earning this deal from here.
