Ivan Ivan has been called up from the Colorado Eagles before tonight's matchup against the Dallas Stars
Ahead of tonight's game against the Dallas Stars, Ivan Ivan has been recalled from the Colorado Eagles, the team announced.
Head coach Jared Bednar announced during the morning skate that the team will call someone up from the Eagles instead of rolling with the previous game's 11-forwards, 7-defensemen strategy. Nathan MacKinnon had some words about it after their blowout loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
In the seven games he has played with the Avalanche, Ivan has yet to score but has one assist while averaging just about seven minutes of ice time per game. With the Eagles, he has seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points in 55 games.
He’s been having a solid month with the Eagles, as in the eight games he has played, he has three goals and two assists for five points, two of them multipoint nights. The last being a last night against the San Diego Gulls, in their 6-5 shootout loss.
I thought they would have called up Taylor Makar instead, as he has been impressive in his play and has two goals and two assists in the two games he played in March. A one-goal game winner against the Henderson Silver Knights on March 1st and a three-point night in the Gulls game, which was one goal and two assists.
Ivan is most likely going to be strapped onto the fourth line, making an “Eagles” line with Zahkar Bardakov and Gavin Brindley, unless Bednar moves one of the previous third line of Parker Kelly, Jack Drury, and Joel Kiviranta.
