The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed former Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Dysin Mayo to a one-year, two-way contract.

Mayo, 28, has played in 82 career games and scored four goals and eight assists for 12 points, along with 35 PIM. He also recorded 159 hits and 153 blocked shots. As a depth defenseman, he’s a perfect fit for a seventh defenseman role on a Blue Jackets team that is hoping to make the playoffs.

Mayo was originally drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in the fifth round of the 2014 NHL Draft. He was traded to the Golden Knights during the 2023 off-season in the deal that sent Shea Weber's contract to the Coyotes.

The Blue Jackets currently have seven defensemen listed on their roster, according to PuckPedia. Mayo has the potential to start the season in the AHL unless he has a strong camp and earns a spot.
