On September 29, 2023, the Blue Jackets claimed Spencer Martin off waivers from the Vancouver Canucks. Spencer was needed for Columbus when Daniil Tarasov was put on IR in the preseason.
Yesterday Spencer Martin was put on waivers by the CBJ for the purpose of sending him to the Cleveland Monsters. Today, Martin was claimed by the Carolina Hurricanes, ending his time in Columbus.
Martin started 10 games for the Blue Jackets, going 3-8-1 with a save % of .886. In total, he played in 13 games for Columbus. His three wins came against Calgary, Boston, and Toronto.
Spencer Martin was a professional while in Columbus and knew his role the entire time, but thankfully the three-goalie system has finally come to an end in Columbus.
