Columbus Blue Jackets Coach Pascal Vincent Speaks About His Power Play During Radio Interview

Vincent was asked by Bobby Carpenter about the power play and what's been the secret of it getting better over the course of the year. Vincent responded,

"So we had quite a few new guys this year. Last year we started really slow and then we got better from November on. We were way better. This year we had Voronkov being added to the team, Chinakhov that didn't play as much last year. So, you know on the power play you have five guys, and I've studied power plays for a long time, and when your five guys are in sync and they know their job and they're good at it, the power play will be quite successful. When there's one guy that doesn't do his assignment, or he's not doing his job, he's killing the whole power play. So trying, more than X's and O's is trying to find the five guys that are working well together. We feel that we're getting there. We have Boone Jenner that can go in front of the net, now we have Voronkov. One piece of our power play, the first play on the power play is winning the faceoff. If you don't win that faceoff, the puck goes 200 feet and you spend 22 seconds before you can have a chance to bring it back in the offensive zone."

Vincent also had some very nice things to say about Captain Boone Jenner, what he did during the break, and what they plan on working on for the rest of the season.
