The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced that they've signed hulking forward Dmitri Voronkov to a two-year, $8.35 million contract, avoiding arbitration.

After this two year deal, Voronkov will be a RFA, as will Kirill Marchenko.

That's a huge piece of business taken care of by GM Don Waddell.

In a CBJ press release: "We are very pleased to reach this agreement with Dmitri as he is an important part of our young core," said Waddell. "He has size, strength and excellent hands and has a chance to be a very special player. We look forward to his continued growth and development as a Blue Jacket."

Voronkov had 47 points in 73 games which included 19 power play points. He leads the team in power play goals and points over the last two seasons.

Dmitri Voronkov re-signing is something that Jackets fans were worried about after rumors of him being included in a potential trade for Noah Dobson. There was also rumblings of him being an offer sheet candidate.

    Put those rumors to bed.
