Yesterday, the Columbus Blue Jackets fan base was shocked by the news that Yegor Chinakhov is looking for a new place to play. His agent took to social media to explain the situation and the differences between him and the coaching staff. Now it has everyone thinking, where could he end up if traded. So, let's take a look at a few trade destinations that could make sense for Chinakhov.

At just 24 years old, he could fit in well with most young cores around the NHL. His career-high in points came back in 2023-24 when he had 16 goals and 13 assists for 29 points in 53 games. Unfortunately, he has dealt with injuries over his career, which has limited him to only 175 games over four years. In his career, he has 34 goals and 37 assists for 71 points, but has the potential to score 45 to 50 points in a season if he can stay healthy.

In terms of his contract, he has one year left at $2.1 million and then he will become a restricted free agent. That could give teams interested more incentive to acquire him, especially knowing that they own his rights.

If Chinakhov is actually on the trade block, there will be a handful of teams that will come calling. The Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, Utah Mammoth and Vancouver Canucks are teams that make sense. All of them are looking for more help up front, more specifically within their top six, and Chinakhov, when healthy, can offer that.

At this time, there hasn't been any official word on if he is being shopped on the trade block. However, if he is dealt, the Blue Jackets could fetch a forward around the same age in return.
