Cale Makar has won the Norris Trophy in a landslide. Yeah you read that correctly.
Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski finished second in the voting, and even got a fifth-place vote - Wild stuff. Someone really dislikes Zach Werenski and the CBJ.
Werenski played in 81 games, scored 23 goals and had 82 points. He was a plus-12 and had 25 power play points as well. He also chipped in 5 game-winning goals.
He also set several franchise records along the way, and one arguably the best season by any Blue Jacket in team history.
In a season which saw the loss of Johnny Gaudreau, and where everyone picked Columbus to finish dead last in the NHL, they missed the playoffs by essentially one win, and was the talk of the league all season.
One could argue that Zach Werenski was more valuable to his team than any player in the league, and it wouldn't shock me if he got Hart Trophy votes. He won't win, but he should get votes.
This shouldn't have been a landslide vote in my opinion.
