The doldrums of the summer with no hockey are here, but Dallas Stars fans can now mark their calendars for Sept. 20, the official return of Stars preseason hockey in Dallas.

The Stars kick off their preseason schedule against the St. Louis Blues that Saturday at 6 p.m. on the final day of their scheduled training camp happening in Frisco at the Comerica Center.

Training camp begins Sept. 17 and concludes the morning of the preseason home opener, which is slightly different than years prior. Usually, training camp ends a day or two before the first exhibition contest. This will be the first look at the team under new head coach Glen Gulutzan, and the first step to a long journey that the team hopes will end with the hoisting of the Stanley Cup.

The Stars only play three teams this preseason, with a home-and-home scheduled against St. Louis, Minnesota and Colorado.

Dallas plays their second home game against the Wild on Tuesday, Sept. 23, before playing three road games in a row. The Stars finish with a 5 p.m. Saturday start against the Avalanche on Oct. 4.

ESPN released their triple-header schedule for opening night of the regular season, happening Tuesday, Oct. 7. Florida will play Chicago and hoist another banner, followed by the New York Rangers battling Pittsburgh and ending in Los Angeles where the Kings host Colorado.

The remainder of the NHL schedule is set to release on July 16.
