The Dallas Stars continue to make moves affecting their AHL affiliate Texas Stars roster, signing forward Antonio Stranges to a one-year extension on a two-way contract.

Stranges has been an integral part of the Texas Stars, playing his whole professional career with the team and posting 79 points in his 138 games in Cedar Park. His game thrived under previous head coach Neil Graham, and Stranges seems to get better each season. This year, he helped Texas reach the Western Conference Final, adding two goals and an assist in the playoffs. Stranges had a stretch of four games in December when he recorded eight points, earning him player of the week honors.

The 5-foot-11 youngster is only 23, and with continued development under new bench boss Toby Petersen, could be a part of the NHL club later in his career. With the two-way contract, Stranges will most likely play a majority of the time in the AHL this year, but since it is only a one year contract, could sign a one-way deal sooner rather than later.

Stranges is part of a Texas Stars roster that is not rife with no-doubt NHL players, but it gives everyone a fair shot to develop and become that next call-up when things inevitably go awry at the NHL level. He was drafted in the fourth round back in 2020, and could add to a long list of recent Stars draft picks to play in the NHL for Dallas.

With the hiring of Petersen earlier this week, the AHL team seems to be coming together for the next season as the off-season flies by. In only a couple of months, the Stars will open up training camp and make final decisions about how the organization will look for the upcoming season.
