Bishop is one of five individuals being inducted into the University of Maine's Sports Hall of Fame. Bishop attended the University of Maine from 2005 to 2008, where he would go on to make his AHL debut for the Peoria Riverman after the conclusion of his final college season. During his time as a Black Bear, he went 55-35-7, recording a save percentage of .916% and a goals-against average of 2.28.

The Colorado native would go on to make his NHL debut in the 2008-09 season for the St Louis Blues. Bishop would bounce around to many teams including the Ottawa Senators, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Los Angeles Kings until finally landing in Dallas ahead of the 2017-18 season.

With the Stars, Bishop went 74-48-11 with a .923% save percentage and a goals-against average of 2.32. However, in the 2018-19 season, he posted a 1.98 goals-against average in 43 games. Bishop lead the Stars to a Stanley Cup Final appearance, the second of his career. Though, he got injured during the playoffs and did not play another NHL game after the playoff run in 2020.

Bishop now works within the Dallas organization as a Player Development Coordinator.
